I am currently between ceramics studio spaces, but I will update here when I have a space to work.

Types of Work

  • Functional Stoneware

Fired to cone 10 and fully vitrified, these pieces are sturdy, dishwasher and microwave safe (within limits), and oven safe if allowed to rise to temp with the oven. I like to make pieces that are useful, but with complicated, elegant shapes.

  • Pitfired, Saggar, or Raku

These pieces are not functional and cannot hold water. They are decorative only. The process involves coating them in metals and colorants like iron (orange), copper (brown or green) and cobalt (blue).

  • Whimsy

I use a variety of different firing methods with these pieces, but they aren’t always functional. For instance, the “mug” in the picture pokes the user in the eye. It’s fun to look at, though! I enjoy the ridiculous, and I create a lot of pieces that celebrate that ridiculous in all of us.
